So it is important to include foods rich in B12 like eggs, lentils, soy, bananas and spinach in your daily diet. If you cannot have them in your everyday diet, you can have B12 as daily supplements.

Vitamin A deficiencies can also affect your nail health. This is according to the health site Since protein is an important component of the nails, low intake of Vitamin A will cause hangnails and brittle nails that crack. Vitamin A contains retinoid that can result to making your weak nails better. Therefore you should include Vitamin A rich foods like dairy products, carrots, mangoes and sweet potatoes in your diet. You can also take a daily multivitamin that contains vitamin A.

# 3 – Vitamin D

When you do not enough vitamin D in the body, the tendency is you will have brittle and dry fingernails. Vitamin D deficiency can also decrease how much calcium the body absorbs which affects the health of the nails causing dryness and brittleness. So to stop the nails from getting weak and splitting, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Include broccoli, eggs, milk, dairy products, tuna and whole grains in your diet. Drink plenty of water a day also. You can take vitamin D supplements in behalf of these foods.

Vitamin C is also an important vitamin that is helpful in maintaining nail health. Since vitamin C supports the circulatory system, it delivers the vital nutrients to all cells in the body which includes the nail. It also functions so as to help maintain overall well-being as well as hair, skin and nail health.

To provide vitamin C in the body, eat citrus fruits and drink juices of grapefruit, orange and kiwi. They are considered as the richest sources of Vitamin C. Other vitamin C rich foods are strawberries, cantaloupe, green peppers, spinach and broccoli.
