How to Get Strong Nails – 9 Tips to Maintain Nail Strength

Most women want their nails to be strong and healthy to grow long and beautiful nails. However, not everyone is lucky enough to be born with naturally strong nails. Tip # 1: Use latex gloves

Whenever you do household chores, always wear latex gloves. This will protect your nails from breaking caused by water and harsh chemicals especially when washing the dishes and cleaning the floor. If you don’t have any gloves to wear, minimize the time by which you soak your hands in water and dry them right away after you’re done. This is to keep your nails strong.

Tip # 2: Use nail oil

Apply a small amount of nail or cuticle oil on your cuticles before going to bed at night. It is best done at night so that your cuticle bed can absorb nutrients fully thus making your nails strong and healthy. Examples of nail oil are almond oil, jojoba oil, olive oil and flax seed oil. Using any of these will not only make your nails grow longer but strengthen them too.

Apply a nail like MAVALA at least twice a day. Do this for one week and on the 7th day, wash the nail hardener. You can apply again for the following days repeating the procedure. This will help you grow strong nails.

Tip # 4: Avoid using artificial nails

Artificial nails can damage and cause infections and at the same time weaken your natural nails. Therefore do not use them if you want strong nails. Let your nails grow instead.

Biting your nails can make them brittle and fragile. Besides being a horrible habit, nail biting can affect your health and your nails. So if you want to have a strong nail, do not bite your nails.

Tip # 6: Drink milk

Calcium also promotes strong nails so try to have at least one glass of milk a day or take calcium tablet daily. Slow-mag tablet is an example of a calcium tablet you can take. If you do not love drinking milk, you can have multivitamins as substitutes.

Tip # 7: Keep your nails hydrated

You can rub a small amount of petroleum jelly into your cuticle which includes the skin that surrounds your nails. Do it every time you feel your nails become dry. Instead of petroleum jelly, you can use castor oil which contains vitamin E that is great for your cuticles. Olive will do also, as it can moisturize your nails too.

Tip # 8: Do not cut your cuticles

Gently push back cuticles but never cut them. You will only damage and weaken the entire nail.

Tip # 9: File your nails correctly

Do not file your nails in a back and forth motion. Do it in one direction only to prevent breaking and to keep your nails at their strongest.  Avoid filing your nails just after taking a shower because wet nails break more easily.
