How to Use Nail Cuticle Oil – 6 Steps on Applying This Oil Successfully

Cuticles are the thin skin found at the base and sides of every nail. These hard bands create seals between the skin and the nail plate and at the same time prevent bacteria, fungus and yeast into entering the skin. Since cuticles are fragile, they are easily broken thus causing pain and sometimes bleeding at the base of the fingernails. It is important therefore to care for our cuticles, to keep them moisturized because if they are not properly taken care of, they become dry and dehydrated making your nails not good to look at. This is why we need cuticle oil.

Regular use of this agent moisturizes our cuticles and prevents cracking and discomfort as well. It also contributes to the growth of harder and healthier looking nails. Cuticle oil can be bought in the form of stick, cream and liquid. Apart from this, you will also need the following when you want to use nail cuticle oil: nail polish remover; towel; orangewood stick; eucalyptus and jojoba oil; hand moisturizer and cotton ball.

Step # 1: Clean your nails.

First, you must remove remaining nail polish from your nails. Use a gentle nail polish remover. Wash your hands with lukewarm soapy water so as to remove any left residues. Make sure to dry your nails and cuticles well with a towel.

Step # 2: Mix the eucalyptus and jojoba oils.

Mix 2 teaspoon of eucalyptus oil with 1 teaspoon of jojoba oil. Then massage the mixture into the cuticles using your fingertips. Wash your nails and cuticles again with warm soapy water. Dry them completely using a towel.

Step # 3: Use the cuticle oil.

Now, the next thing to do is, place a small towel on any flat surface and open the cuticle oil. Put one hand on the towel and put cuticle remover to your cuticles. Using an orangewood stick, push back your cuticles gently. You can move the orangewood stick back and forth around the cuticles to remove all the dead skin. Do this procedure to each and every nail 2-3 times.

Step # 4: Follow these things.

Using a cotton ball, wipe away all dead skin, remaining debris and particles from your cuticles. Apply moisturizer to your hands especially to your nails and cuticles.

Step # 5: Apply the cuticle oil.

Now, you can apply a drop or two of the cuticle oil to your thumb using your free hand. Try to rub it gently into the cuticle until the oil is absorbed fully into the cuticle and nail. You can repeat this process for your remaining fingers, working the oil on each finger before switching to your other hands.

Step # 6: Remember some other tips.

Do not wash your hands for an hour or longer after you have applied the cuticle oil. A better way is to apply the oil at night before going to bed. Likewise, you must try to read and follow the directions as indicated on the cuticle oil you are using. Some manufacturer’s require a twice a day application and some recommend two times a week only.

You are encouraged to take the above-mentioned steps into account if you want to use cuticle oils on your finger. Make sure you follow them to the letter.
